AI Ready Kids & Families
Talking to Chatbots Safely
Monday, November 09
6:00pm - 7:00pm
Learn how chatbots work, why they can sometimes be wrong, and what personal information should never be shared. Families will practice safe and thoughtful AI use.
Chatbots can be helpful, entertaining, and surprisingly convincing—but they can also make mistakes. In this session, children and caregivers will learn how chatbots work and why information generated by AI isn't always accurate. Participants will also learn important rules for protecting personal information and practice thinking carefully about what they share with AI tools. Families will leave with practical strategies for using chatbots more safely and thoughtfully.
What is the AI Ready Kids & Families program series?
This five-part series helps children ages 6–11 and their parents or caregivers explore AI in fun, approachable, and age-appropriate ways. Families will learn how AI works at a basic level, recognize where it appears in everyday life, practice using AI safely, identify AI-generated content, and develop responsible AI habits for home. Each session includes interactive activities and opportunities for family discussion. Sessions are designed to stand alone, so families can attend individual programs or participate in the full series. There are also AI Ready program series for Teens (12-18) and Adults.
Registration is required. Families registering multiple children should register each participant separately.
