Stop by any branch between April 1st and April 8th to get your free eclipse glasses!

Please Note: All Charles County Public Library branches are out of solar eclipse glasses. We apologize for any inconvenience.

There is a total solar eclipse coming up on Monday, April 8, 2024!

In Charles County we will be able to see up to 85.9% of coverage of the Sun! Are you ready to safely view the eclipse?

The Charles County Public Library has obtained free solar eclipse glasses to give to the members of our community!

When: Monday, April 1, 2024 through Monday, April 8, 2024, while supplies last.

Where: Any CCPL branch, including the Mobile Library.

How: Ask staff at the main service desk. Eclipse Glasses will be available on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last. We will not hold glasses for anyone to pick up at a later time.

or

Attend one of our Eclipse programs! Eclipse Pinhole Boxes @ Waldorf West Branch 4/6 @ 10am and Solar Eclipse Party @ Potomac Branch 4/8 @ 2pm. Each participant will receive 1 pair of glasses.

Limits: 1 per person or 4 per family, while supplies last.

Charles County will not be in the path of 100% totality, so we will not be able to see a complete total solar eclipse. However, we will be able to see a maximum of 85.9% of coverage so it will still be well worth watching. The eclipse will start in Charles County at 2:04 pm and end at 4:32 pm with maximum coverage occurring at 3:20 pm.
