Celebrate Black History Month by learning about one of the most influential painters of the 20th century.
Join us for an evening of art, centered around famous artist Alma Thomas! We will learn about her art and dive into her mosaic-like paintings by creating some of our own. With art projects for both kids and adults, this program will be a great time for art lovers of all ages!
Alma Thomas played with colors and shapes like no other. She was the first graduate of Howard University's art department in 1924 and even earned a teaching degree from University of the District of Columbia. Alma broke color barriers that existed at the time to become a notable Expressionist and one of artists in the second generation of the Washington Color School movement.
