Art Exploration Teen Edition:
The Art of People-Capturing Sonder
Wednesday, September 23
2:00pm - 3:30pm
From famous painters to exciting art styles and techniques, every month offers a new artistic adventure!
Designed for tweens and teens who are ready to deepen their artistic skills, Art Exploration: Teen Edition combines art history, creative thinking, and hands-on studio experiences. Each month, participants will take an in-depth look at a different artist, art movement, style, theme, or artistic technique, exploring the ideas, history, and creative processes behind the works of art.
Following the lesson, participants will apply what they've learned by creating their own original artwork using more advanced materials and techniques. Projects encourage experimentation, creative expression, and the development of artistic skills while challenging participants to think critically about art and its role in our world.
In September, we will explore artworks that feature and highlight people of all walks of life. We will be diving into the topic of Sonder which is the realization that every random passerby is living a life as vivid, complex, and emotional as your own.
Art Exploration: Teen Edition meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month, September through May.
Please note: This program is designed for tweens and teens ages 9–18. Younger participants may find the projects and concepts too advanced.
Registration is required. Families registering multiple tweens/teens should register each participant separately.
