American History in Monsters
Cryptozoology and Folktale Writing Workshop
Tuesday, November 10
2:00pm - 4:00pm
Calling all writers, storytellers, and lovers of the strange and unexplained! Celebrate National Novel Writing Month with a creative writing workshop that explores the fascinating world of cryptids.
From Chessie, Maryland’s legendary sea monster, to the mysterious Mothman of West Virginia, stories of strange and unexplained creatures have captured our imaginations for generations. In this workshop, we’ll explore the history, folklore, and legends surrounding cryptids from Maryland and across the country. Then, it’s your turn to become the storyteller!
Use what you’ve learned as inspiration to create your own beastly folktale, mysterious monster encounter, or original cryptid legend. Whether you’re an experienced writer or simply have a wild story waiting to be told, you’ll have the opportunity to sharpen your creative writing skills, develop imaginative ideas, and bring your very own creature to life on the page.
Come ready to write, imagine, and explore the unexplained—because you never know what might be lurking just beyond the woods, beneath the water, or in the shadows!
Registration is required.
