Learn how you can help prevent wildfires and protect our forests!

October is National Fire Prevention Month, making it the perfect time to discover how small actions can make a big difference in keeping our forests and communities safe. Join Forest Rangers from the Maryland Forest Service for an engaging and interactive program about wildfire prevention, forest stewardship, and the important role everyone plays in protecting natural spaces.

Participants will learn how wildfires start, ways to help prevent them, and what Forest Rangers do to care for Maryland's forests and respond to wildfire emergencies. You'll also discover the history of Smokey Bear, the beloved wildfire prevention mascot who has been teaching generations that "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires."

Best of all, you'll have the opportunity to meet Smokey Bear in person, take photos, and learn firsthand how you can help keep our forests healthy and safe for everyone.

This program is perfect for families and anyone interested in nature, wildlife, and outdoor safety.
