As social media, gaming platforms, messaging apps, and digital communication continue to shape how young people connect, many parents and caregivers feel overwhelmed trying to navigate the hidden risks that can exist online. This presentation is designed to provide practical, age-appropriate education that helps tweens, teens and families better understand online grooming tactics, digital manipulation, sextortion, boundary-setting, and safe communication practices.

Over the course of this presentation, Cerise Woodard of the Southern Maryland Human Trafficking Collaborative aims to:

  • Increase awareness of online exploitation risks affecting youth
  • Equip families with practical digital safety tools
  • Encourage healthy communication between teens and caregivers
  • Promote prevention through early recognition and education

This program approaches prevention through awareness, education, and open conversation — empowering both minors and trusted adults with tools to recognize red flags early and respond safely.

Registration is required. If you have questions, please contact the Waldorf West Branch at 301-645-1395 or email westref@ccplonline.org.
