Explore creative ways to document plants through leaf rubbings and sun prints.
Discover how artists, scientists, and naturalists document the plant world through hands-on techniques inspired by field guides. Participants will learn how leaf rubbings reveal unique vein patterns and experiment with watercolor and crayon methods to create their own botanical impressions.
The program also introduces sun prints (cyanotypes), including an overview of the process and examples of finished work. Weather permitting, participants will create sun prints during the program; otherwise, they’ll assemble take-home kits to continue exploring at home. This program blends art, observation, and nature study in an accessible, creative way for all skill levels.
Recommended for ages 6-11. Registration is required. Families registering multiple children should register each participant separately.
