Need help planning for your loved one's future?
Join us for this informative and accessible legal workshop with Karen M. Selby, Esquire, and Nasheia Smith, Esquire, where you'll gain essential knowledge about wills and estate law and its importance in your life.
A will is a legal document that outlines how one's belongings, property, and finances will be distributed after one's death. Setting up a will can be a daunting task, but having knowledge on best practices can make an important difference.
During this program, Karen M. Selby and Nasheia Smith will define key legal terms, break down estate law, and provide some helpful information on how to create your will.
Don't miss this opportunity to empower yourself with knowledge and take control of your estate!
This program is in partnership with the Charles County Bar Association.
About the Presenters: Karen M. Selby worked as an Attorney and Human Resources Professional for over twenty years before starting Griffin Selby Law PLLC. She takes cases that she believes in and fights tirelessly to protect the rights of her clients.
Karen started her estate planning practice after losing her best friend to brain cancer. This experience taught her the importance of having a living trust, a will, a power of attorney and a healthcare advanced directive. It also fueled her desire to dedicate her law practice to helping clients prepare for the unknown but certain occurrence of death. She drafts wills and trusts to help clients distribute their assets and belongings in a seamless manner and avoid probate. She also assists families in navigating the often-complicated process of probate and estate administration.
A proud graduate of Howard University School of Law, Karen lives by the mantra “to whom much is given, much is required”. She is also a graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, where she majored in Political Science, History and Africana Studies.
Nasheia Smith is a partner at Andrews, Bongar, and Gormley & Clagett. She focuses her practice on Estate Planning, Probate, and Family Law.
Nasheia attended Bowie State University for undergraduate school and University of Baltimore School of Law. After law school, she served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Baltimore. She also served as a family law attorney at a non-profit organization. She assisted over 5,000 clients with their family law legal needs. During her time there, she developed the skills necessary to establish positive and trusting relationships with clients in order to assist them through their difficult emotional legal issues.
She is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association where she served on the Public Awareness committee. Nasheia is also a member of the J Franklyn Bourne Bar Association.
