Come learn a fascinating new perspective on Washington D.C. with Off the Mall Tours's Katie Kirkpatrick!
During the Civil War period, Pennsylvania Avenue became DC's most notorious district place for women of ill repute, from the ramshackle "boarding houses" of Murder Bay to the glamorous houses of Marble Alley, all within sight of the Capitol. Also, a new profession for women was rising, that of the "female lobbyist." This program will introduce you to some of the most notorious women of mid-19th Century DC.
Please note that the content of this program may be unsuitable for participants under the age of 18. This program is recommended for adults.
