Celebrate the release of the new Downton Abbey movie with a talk on the series's depiction of British history with Dr. Julie Taddoe!

Downton Abbey explores the rapid social change that happened from the Edwardian era to the post World War 1 era. Dr. Julie Taddoe, professor of history at the University of Maryland, will explain the ways in which history differs from how it exists in popular imagination to how it exists in reality. Fans of Downton Abbey and history buffs alike won't want to miss this exciting program!

Registration is required and will close one hour before the program. This program will take place on Zoom and the link to the program will be sent by CCPL staff one hour prior to the event.

About the Presenter: Dr. Julie Taddoe is a Research Professor of British History at University of Maryland. She received my PhD from University of Rochester and has also taught at UC Berkeley and Temple University. She has published multiple books and articles on such topics as the Bloomsbury Group and British modernism; the British novelists Catherine Cookson and Anne Perry; the neo-Victorian movement known as Steampunk; British period drama television and how we can use popular culture to discuss issues of class, gender, and race.
