Join us for a special story time all about land stewardship with the Accokeek Foundation!
Join us for a special Story Time partnering with the Accokeek Foundation! This program will focus on and teach about how we can be good stewards of the land we live on, as well on how Indigenous people, such as the Piscataway Nation of Southern Maryland, have historically been and presently are caretakers of the lands which make up their ancestral homes.
About the Presenter: By honoring the park’s river location, the Piscataway people, and the sacredness of this land, the Accokeek Foundation shares with people and communities through nature, agriculture, cultural history, and foodways, the value that this land and soil hold, including evolving stories about different communities’ reliance on it for sustenance. Park visitors experience the interconnectedness of all life as they come to know the historical and cultural significance and regenerative potential of the indigenous landscape that is Piscataway Park.
Charles County Public Library events are accessible for all. If you have an accessibility request, please contact programs@ccplonline.org three business days prior to the event.
