Everyone has a story to tell. What's yours?
In honor of National Novel Writing Month, we’re hosting a flash fiction writing contest for tweens and teens. Submit your memoir entry for a chance to win a writer’s prize bundle and be featured on our social media pages. But, there’s a twist… Your memoir must be exactly six words, no less and no more!
Here’s the fine print:
Entry must be your original work.
Entry must be six words, not including the title.
Entry must have a title.
Only one entry per person.
Entry must be submitted through this Google form.
Our librarian panel of judges will consider the following when selecting a winner:
Length - is the entry exactly six words?
Content - does the entry evoke feelings of a memoir?
Writing - does the word choice convey a clear picture?
Grammar - how is the spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.?
Creativity - is the entry surprising? Imaginative? Compelling?
Contest winners and any honorable mentions will be announced Friday, December 5th via social media and through direct notifications to the winners. Winning stories, along with the author's name, will be published on the library’s Facebook page. We can’t wait to read your submission!
Recommended for ages 12 - 18.
