Join us for a special screening of Free for All: The Public Library, a compelling documentary that explores the history, impact, and challenges of public libraries in America.
Free for All: The Public Library tells the story of the quiet revolutionaries who made a simple idea happen. From the pioneering women behind the “Free Library Movement” to today's librarians who service the public despite working in a contentious age of closures and book bans, meet those who created a civic institution where everything is free and the doors are open to all. Through powerful storytelling, the film celebrates libraries as vital institutions of democracy, access, and community connection.
Following the screening, participate in an engaging community conversation featuring a combination of scavenger hunt and shared reflection:
Library Scavenger Hunt: Explore hidden gems within the library, uncover unique resources, and learn about the essential services libraries provide beyond books.
Sticky Note Reflections: Share your thoughts on what libraries mean to you, the role they play in our community, and ideas for their future. Responses will be displayed in the branch to spark ongoing conversations.
This event is free and open to all! Whether you’re a lifelong library lover or curious about their evolving role in society, come be part of this interactive and thought-provoking experience.
Free For All: The Public Library will premiere on MPT on April 29, 2025.
