Everyone has a story to tell. What's yours?
In honor of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), we're hosting a flash fiction writing contest for tweens and teens. Submit your memoir entry for a chance to win a writer’s prize bundle and be featured on our social media pages. But, there’s a twist… Your memoir must be exactly six words, no less and no more!
Here’s the fine print:
Our librarian panel of judges will consider the following when selecting a winner:
Length - is the entry exactly six words?
Content - does the entry evoke feelings of a memoir?
Writing - does the word choice convey a clear picture?
Grammar - how is the spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.?
Creativity - is the entry surprising? Imaginative? Compelling?
Contest winners and any honorable mentions will be announced Friday, December 6th via social media and through direct notifications to the winners. The winning prize bundle must be picked up at a Charles County Public Library branch no later than Saturday, December 21st. Winning stories, along with the author's name, will be published on the library’s Facebook page. We can't wait to read your submission!
Recommended for ages 12 - 18.
