In 1993, Akemi Welsh started Polynesian Paradise, a professional Polynesian entertainment company specializing in the traditional and modern dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and Samoa. The Polynesian Paradise Dancers troupe prides itself on providing vibrant, high-energy and authentic Polynesian entertainment to audiences of all ages. Since its inception, PPD has group by leaps and bounds, taking their show all over the world. In 2005 alone the company reports having had a record-breaking 331 performances, which is more than any other Polynesian dance company. As one of the most sought after Polynesian shows, PPD has done it all, ranging from television cameos to movie premiers to print work. The Polynesian Paradise Dancers aspire to entertain and open the avenues of dance to everyone so that they can share their love for dance and the Polynesian culture with audiences everywhere!
