The Korean American Cultural Arts Foundation will present a hands-on workshop: "Uigwe Banchado" | Recording Painting of National Ceremonies in the Joseon Dynasty
"Uigwe Banchado": When the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) had major national events such as wedding and funeral, Uigwe was an action report that records the progress of the event, a list of participants, costs, tools, and major scenes in writing and drawing. This is a unique record of the Joseon Dynasty and it is known as the best of UNESCO World Record Heritage (Memory of the World, MOW). Banchado was a blueprint drawing to prepare for an important national event in advance, and the order and title were engraved according to the position. In this workshop, you will learn about "Uigwe Banchado" and experience to draw the part of the painting.
