Please join us for this free, informative workshop from the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights about the laws under the Fair Housing Act which provide protections that exist for all Marylanders.

One of our most fundamental rights is to live peaceably where we choose - where everyone has equal access to neighborhoods of opportunity. Fair housing is the right of all people to buy, sell, or rent residential property, and to live where they wish without discriminatory criteria. Having chosen a place to live, we are guaranteed the right to reside there peacefully, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, marital status, source of income, sexual orientation, gender identity or disability.

About the Presenter:

Keith Merkey, M.Div./CE is an Education and Outreach Associate for the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights where he provides educational workshops and conducts trainings on a variety of topics such as diversity, discrimination prevention, sexual harassment, fair housing, conflict resolution, sexual orientation/gender identity, and other issues for Maryland?s agencies, universities, businesses and organizations. Mr. Merkey received his Bachelors of Art in Religion and Philosophy from Campbell University in North Carolina and his Masters of Divinity and Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He has received post-graduate training in prejudice?reduction and diversity as well as EEO, Fair Housing Issues and Safe Spaces Training.
