The World is at your fingertips! Fun and interactive lessons about exploring safely online, protecting your identity, safe online communication, good digital citizenship.
Parents! Did you attend the Practical Advice for Parenting Kids in the Digital Age program that took place on 8/26? This program is a great follow-up for that program, but this time, it's designed especially for kids!
Kids want to explore cyberspace for fun, for school and to connect with friends. We just need to make sure that they know the rules of the road so they can be safe, smart, and kind when connecting using tech. I will discuss what makes a strong password, how to know what games are appropriate for them and what to do if someone they don't know tries to make a connection online. The lessons are fun and interactive. Topics include: Explore Safely Online, Protect Yourself, Gaming, Communicating Online, Take an (online) Break, Healthy Tech Diet, Good Digital Citizenship
This program is recommended for ages 5-11.
About The Presenter: Denise Derosa, Founder of Cyber Sensible
Ms. DeRosa has a Master's Degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and 15 plus years of media experience at AOL, VH1 and Comedy Central. Her understanding of the cultural and societal impacts of communication technologies along with her experience as a mom inspired the development of her first workshop on parenting in the digital age.
Denise founded Cyber Sensible in 2015 to provide online safety and digital citizenship advice to organizations, families, parents, youth and schools. She believes in the importance of digital literacy education for all. She is dedicated to empowering her clients with the tools needed to embrace digital technologies in meaningful, creative, and positive ways. Denise focuses her discussions on practical ways to both manage and capitalize on technology with internet safety tips, lessons in healthy tech habits, social media strategies and digital reputation management.
Her guiding principle is in helping others find digital balance in a tech heavy world.
