Join LifeStyles of Southern Maryland for a financial literacy program that explains the basics in banking, understanding differences in financial institutions and offers consumer protection tips.
This class will discuss how financial institutions work, and how they generate profit. It will unpack our values around banking and how they affect our finances. We will compare and contrast various financial institutions, like credit unions and banks. Persons will learn how compound interest is calculated, and consumer Protection and fee-avoidance tips and tricks for people who are new to banking.
The curriculum is provided by CASH Campaign of Maryland, which is a statewide coalition that helps to fund our VITA program as well as providing financial advocacy.
