Come unearth the stories of trailblazing women from Black history!

Come learn all about Black history in the United States from the very women who lived it! Guided through this program by Ms. Story, you'll be able to meet and interact with figures like Mamie "Peanut" Johnson and learn the story of Matthew Henson, both of whom had an impact on American history and its progress, and even more! Shemika Renee will skillfully interpret the story of these women through first person storytelling and acting. You won't want to miss this exciting and informative program!

About the Presenter: Shemika Renee, A.K.A. Ms. Story, is an Air Force veteran and award winning actress who has been performing for 20 years. She has been on stage throughout the Washington DC metro area and southern Maryland. She believes in humanizing history by merging theatrical arts, history, and storytelling. She began performing at her children's schools portraying historical women in first person narrative. Her shows often include stories of lesser known figures in addition to more famous names.

Registration is not required. Please contact pdbrownref@ccplonline.org or call us at 301-645-2864 with any questions!
