Join us as travel journalist Peter Mandel takes you on a swashbuckling tour of the globe's adventures-- all from the comfort of your own home!

Last year Charles County patrons took an armchair world tour with adventure travel writer and longtime Washington Post contributor, Peter Mandel. Since early March is just the time to start thinking about your own adventures, we’ve invited Peter back on March 10th at 6pm to offer his all-new ‘Going to Extremes 2’ slideshow via Zoom, which can be enjoyed with or without previous introduction to Peter’s work!

Peter, who also writes and photographs for The Los Angeles Times and National Geographic Kids, will let us tag along on extreme assignments at sea, in thin air, and on dry land. Come along for the ride as he climbs to a Clipper ship’s crow’s nest in high seas, flies in the Goodyear Blimp, ‘drives’ the entire Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, survives a military coup in Ecuador, kayaks from Manhattan to the Statue of Liberty, and crosses into East Germany back in the days of the Berlin Wall.
