Cryptid Quest: Legends of Charles County

Do you dare to uncover the hidden creatures and eerie tales that haunt Charles County? Legends speak of strange beings lurking just out of sight; cryptids, myths, and urban legends!

Meet us at Village Green Park: 100 Walter Thomas Rd, Indian Head MD 20640.

If you’re brave enough, join the Cryptid Quest this October and unravel their secrets… if you can find them.

Your mission:
Travel to each of the Charles County Public Library branches—La Plata, Waldorf West, P.D. Brown, Potomac, and the Mobile Library—between October 1st and 31st. At each location, a cryptid is hidden, waiting to be discovered. Seek out the QR code next to each creature and scan it to reveal its spine-chilling backstory. Snap a photo of each cryptid as evidence of your discovery.

Once you’ve uncovered them all, visit the Mobile Library at any of its public stops. Show us your photos, share what you’ve learned, and claim your well-earned cryptid hunter reward!

Bonus Challenge:
The most daring adventurers can journey to the 24-Hour Library Kiosk in Nanjemoy to find an exclusive bonus cryptid—complete your quest for an extra prize!
